Precautions and Prevention of Optic atrophy
Facial injuries can be prevented by standard safety precautions:
Use seat belt when traveling
Avoid alcohol consumption

Prognosis of Optic atrophy

POST POLIO SYNDROME AND AYURVEDA

Introduction:
Post poliomyelitis syndrome (PPS) is a condition that affects polio survivors anywhere from 10 to 40 years after recovery from an initial paralytic attack of the poliomyelitis virus. Post-polio syndrome is characterized by a further weakening of muscles that were previously affected by the polio infection.

Post polio syndrome is a very slowly progressing condition marked by long periods of stability. The severity of post-polio syndrome depends on the degree of the residual weakness and disability an individual has after the original polio attack. People who had only minimal symptoms from the original attack and subsequently develop post-polio syndrome will most likely experience only mild post-polio syndrome symptoms. People originally hit hard by the polio virus, which were left with severe residual weakness, may develop a more severe case of post-polio syndrome with a greater loss of muscle function, difficulty in swallowing, and more periods of fatigue.

Symptoms of Post Polio Syndrome
  • Unexplained fatigue
  • New weakness in muscles
  • Pain in muscles or joint
  • Scoliosis
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Swallowing problems
  • Depression
  • Muscle spasms/twitching
  • Sleep problems
  • Anxiety
  • Muscle atrophy
Ayurvedic Cause for Post Polio Syndrome
Poliomyelitis is caused when there is a divergence in vata-pitta-kamba which affects the dosha (energies of the body). This physiological shift causes toxins (ama) to build up and attack the nervous system. To be treated positively, Ayurveda says that there must be a re-balancing of these dosha's within the body.

Treatment for Post Polio Syndrome
No specific treatment of the disease. Though the modern science is unable to offer a cure, Ayurveda cam alleviate the pain experienced by the sufferers and can also aid the survivor's recovery greatly.

Ayurveda treatments for Post Polio Syndrome:

Ayurveda offers a healing regime of herbal treatments and intensive panchakarma therapies that focus on reducing the symptoms and repair the damage. Ayurvedic treatment is concerned with cleansing body channels, restoring proper digestion and nourishing body tissues and pacifying imbalanced body energies. This is achieved through prescription of cleansing herbal formulas and adjustments to diet and lifestyle. Nourishing herbs are also administered to strengthen the nervous system.

GET CLEAR FAIR & GLOWING SKIN AT HOME NATURALLY

When it comes to skin care, we often pay more emphasis to our face in comparison to other regions. We all wish for a healthy facial skin because it helps boost one’s confidence.

Ayurveda is the most useful and successful means for achieving this purpose naturally. You will be amazed to find abundance of beauty secrets in the form of face masks and other mediums that can treat and heal the dull and blemished skin to make it into a glowing and healthy skin.

Find below a few amazing ways to make a face pack for glowing skin at home:

Marigold Face Pack for Glowing skin:

Ever tried face masks with flowers? It’s time you give it a shot.

Marigold flowers are easily available. So just grab a few and make a fresh flowery paste with some raw milk and 1 tbsp. of honey.  Apply this on your face as a paste and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before you wash it with lukewarm water.
Besides the amazing aroma, the pack also has antibacterial and antiseptic properties that heal the aggravated pimples or zits. Doing this for at least one or two times a week helps tighten the pores and leads to amazing glowing skin.

Alternative: - You can use petals of absolute red roses in the same manner.

Turmeric and Chickpea flour Pack for Clear Skin:

Mix 4 tbsp. of chickpea flour to half a tbsp. of turmeric powder and make a paste. You can also add some raw milk or fresh cream for added smoothness. Use this at least once a week, for 10-15 minutes to get bright and glowing complexion.

Tip: Immediately wash your face once you see the face pack cracking. Dry face packs should not remain on the skin for long as it can bring forth fine lines and wrinkles.

Sandalwood Mask for Instant Whitening:

To make this face mask, you can use the easily available sandalwood powder instead of grabbing a sandalwood stick and rubbing it on the stone. Both the alternatives do equal justice, thus, regardless of what you use, mix sandalwood with some water or rose water and let it on the face for 15 minutes before you wash it off. This is among the most popular of face packs for glowing skin.
The benefits of this face mask are that it reduces pimples, enhances the glow and makes the skin soft. Use it 5-6 times a week for better results.

Mix it all with some fresh cream or buttermilk. Ensure you leave the paste for at least 10-15 minutes and when used at least once a week, it relieves stress, thus giving your skin youthful glow.

Ayurvedic Scrub for Exfoliation:

Make a scrub with 1tbsp of fine rice flour and sandalwood powder. To it, add conch shell powder (optional –great for treating pimples), half a tbsp. of milk or milk powder, and 1tbsp of chickpea flour along with rose water. Use this Ayurvedic scrub once or twice a week to get a spa like scrubbing experience.

This homemade Ayurvedic face pack includes anti-oxidant and moisturizing properties, which helps you, achieve clean and light skin. Take 1 tablespoon of organic honey and add 3-5 drops of fresh lemon juice and then apply on the face in the right technique. Make sure to cover all areas of the face excluding the eye area. Rinse it off with clear water after 10-15 minutes. This pack will help you achieve soft, glowing skin in no time. It also helps in removing the facial hair.

Regular Herbal Fairness Pack:

Take some chickpea flour, a pinch of turmeric and few drops of lemon along with raw milk or rose water to make a smooth pack. Apply on a thoroughly cleansed face and leave it for 10 minutes. AYURVEDA AND SARCOIDOSIS

Introduction of Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis is a disease that results from a specific form of tissue inflammation called granuloma which can appear in any part of the body, but most often starts in the lungs or lymph nodes. It is most common in young, black adults. A disturbed immune response of the body is believed to be the cause of this disease.

Sarcoidosis is neither a cancer nor is contagious, and in most cases heals spontaneously in 2 to 3 years. However, it can affect and seriously damage vital organs like the lungs, heart, nervous system, liver or kidneys. The Ayurvedic treatment of this condition helps to reduce the damage to the tissues and prevent complications from the resulting fibrosis.

Symptoms of Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis can affect any organ, largely asymptomatic only showing vague symptoms as per the involvement of the specific organ. Symptoms may include:
  • Fatigue
  • Lack of energy
  • Weight loss
  • Aches and pains
  • Arthritis
  • Dry eyes, blurry vision, and blindness
  • Swelling of the knees
  • Shortness of breath
  • Dry hacking cough
  • Skin lesions, rashes and nodules (small bumps)
  • Hepatomegaly
  • Anemia
  • Painless swollen lymph nodes of axillary, epitrochlear, or inguinal region
  • In neurosarcoidosis – peripheral facial nerve palsy, optic nerve dysfunction, papilledema, palate dysfunction, hearing abnormalities, hypothalamic and pituitary abnormalities, chronic meningitis, and peripheral neuropathy may be seen.

Etiology of Sarcoidosis

As per Ayurveda, Sarcoidosis disease is caused by generation of endotoxins, i.e., it is an autoimmune disease. Endotoxin called ama while moving through circulatory and lymphatic systems interferes with chemical function of immunity system and results in accumulation of antibodies in form of inflammatory lumps in different organs of the body.

Causes for Sarcoidosis

Causes of Sarcoidosis are still unknown. Scientists are yet to identify the specific cause or substance which may trigger this disease.

HERBAL CHELATION THERAPY FOR ATHEROSCLEROSIS

Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine that originated centuries ago in India. It is now popular all over the world for its holistic approach towards treating common as well as chronic diseases.

Chelation therapy deals with the administration of certain chelating agents which remove heavy metals from the blood, especially calcium. Thus it helps in Atherosclerosis by keeping our arteries clear from the plaque that restricts the blood flow to the heart. A high calcium score in our blood puts one at risk of developing that deadly plaque in our arteries.

This therapy helps to heal the heart without any major surgeries like Angioplasty or Bypass.

EDTA, or Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, is the most widely used chelating agent.  However, there are also some adverse effects noticed by this therapy.

Hence, potent Ayurvedic chelating herbs can be used in such patients for the same results without any adverse effects.

Chelating herbs:

Guggul:
Guggul (Commiphora mukul) is the Ayurvedic herb of choice to treat high blood cholesterol. A high level of LDL cholesterol or ´bad cholesterol´ in our blood, along with a high calcium score, puts one at risk of developing the ´hard´ plaque in our arteries due to the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. The active components known as ´guggulsterones´ effectively inhibit the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and help in more effective elimination of LDL cholesterol from our body. These guggulsterones also flush out other toxins and fatty substances which help in plaque formation.

Arjuna:
Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna) has been traditionally used by Ayurvedic physicians to treat ailments of heart and to improve the blood circulation in our body. It is a potent cardiotonic, known for strengthening the muscles of our heart, dilating the arteries that supply blood to our heart. It also helps in unclog our coronary arteries. It may also help inhibit the process of oxidation of LDL cholesterol due to its antioxidant properties.

Guduchi:
Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) is a potent Ayurvedic herb known for its antioxidant and adaptogenic properties. The chelating properties of guduchi are attributed to its potent free radical scavenging properties, and its ability to flush out toxins and other heavy metals from our body.

Coriander seeds:
Coriander seeds are used in Ayurveda to support a healthy heart and healthy kidneys. They are also known to flush out toxins and heavy metals from our body due to their potent detoxification properties. They are also good sources of heart-friendly nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, and vitamin A, C, E and K.

Manjistha:
Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia) has been used by Ayurvedic physicians primarily for the purification of our blood. It supports a healthy lymphatic system which drains out all the toxic wastes from our body. It helps dissolve toxic heavy metals in our bloodstream and thus enables them to be eliminated from our bodies via our bowels or urinary system.

Kutaki:
Kutaki (Picrorrhiza kurroa) has been used in Ayurveda to treat liver ailments. The liver is the biggest detoxifying organ in our body and due to its potent hepato-protective properties, katuki helps flush out the bad cholesterol and other toxins and fatty substances that are responsible for the formation of the deadly plaque in our arteries.

But remember, chelation therapy should be carried out only under the supervision of a qualified medical practitioner. Do not try self-medication with the above mentioned herbs.

At VishwaCARE, we also have many other Ayurvedic treatments and Panchkarma therapies which double up the effect of chelation therapy.
